Legendary Journeys
Vlad

Vlad was a friend of Hercules, and the Prince of Dacia.

After returning from the war in Antioch, along which Vlad had served with Hercules and Iolaus, he began to notice that his father, the King of Dacia, was behaving strangely. One night, when Vlad was sleeping, his father bit him on the neck. Vlad fought with his father and was forced to kill him; during the fight, he realized that his father was a Strygoi (vampire), and Vlad himself was now on track to becoming one. He tried to control himself at first, but his violent urges had led to him being widely called “Vlad the Impaler”. After that, he desperately sent his messenger, Mateus, to find Hercules in Greece, so that Hercules could kill him.

But by the time that Hercules, together with Iolaus, had arrived in Dacia, Vlad had been fully corrupted by his vampirism, and had changed his goal. He now desired to use the blood of Hercules to find immortality and rule Dacia with the help of his servants, who he turned into vampires.

Vlad's mistress, named Nadia, turned her brother Galen into a vampire, and then Iolaus was bitten. Hercules had to agree to give Vlad his semi-divine blood so that Vlad would free Iolaus from vampirism. But before he gave his blood, Hercules drank hemlock poison, which weakened the vampires. After that, he fought with Vlad and defeated him in battle. In his final moments, Vlad showed gratitude toward Hercules for finally ending his suffering. After the death of the chief vampire, all the vampires he had converted became normal people once again.
