Spagos was a prisoner of Menas Maxius and his wife Postera. Too old to fight as a gladiator, he was tasked with preparing food for the prisoners. During the gladiatorial matches, Spagos delighted in peering out of a cell window and providing blow by blow descriptions of the battles to the other prisoners. When Hercules and Gladius defied their captors and stole the jail keys, they gave them to Spagos to set the other prisoners free.
