Ruun lived in Sarna with his father, mother and sister Siri. When Sarna was attacked by Amazons his father tattooed a small bird on Ruun's hand and an identical one on Siri's to allow them to find each other if ever separated. Ruun promised his father that if anything ever happened to his parents he would care for Siri.
Mayam did, in fact, kill Ruun's parents in the attack. She also blinded him and Siri was abducted to be raised as an Amazon. Thirteen years later, Ruun encountered Hercules on his way back to Sarna. They located Siri and were re-united.
