Purces teamed with Salmoneus to unearth Hera's treasure in Orestia. He stole several items from the treasure for himself and so the gods sent Nemesis to execute him for the thefts. Purces was intimidated by Nemesis and walked into an area where a miner was working to unearth the treasure. The miner's pike impaled Purces in the head and he died.
