Parentheses was a young writer. He wrote a piece that suggested some local leaders were criminals and they responded by trying to hang him. Luckily, Hercules and Iolaus stumbled upon the scene and were able to rescue him. He then accompanied them to the Cave of Echoes where the heroes had been called to rescue Melina. He journeyed with them through the cave and asked them about their adventures so he could write about them. The trio were able to rescue Melina and she introduced Parentheses to her father.
