Pandora was the granddaughter the original Pandora, who opened the box which famously contained many of the world's evils. Pandora was a very gentle, but very fearful person. She was utterly dedicated to keeping the box, her family heirloom, from opening and thereby preventing hope from escaping. Pandora's dedication, and her warning of what would happen if hope escaped, is what convinced Xena to help her.
After successfully retrieving and re-sealing the box, Pandora accepted King Gregor's offer to stay at the castle and watch over the baby he had recently adopted. In exchange, the king was happy to keep the box secure and guarded at all times.
