New Zealand is the nation where all scenes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Young Hercules were shot. Most of the cast for the series' were New Zealand natives, including stars Michael Hurst, Lucy Lawless, Dean O'Gorman and Kevin Smith. They often adopted American accents to play the Greek characters.
New Zealand is also the tongue-in-cheek "third world country" referenced as a potential site for filming Xena: Warrior Princess in "The Xena Scrolls" by Ted.
