Lachrymose is the god of despair. Lachrymose appears as an old man with long hair and a sad expression. While he is the god of despair, he isn’t very good at promoting it. In fact, he can more aptly be described as the god of boredom.
In the Myth
Penthos is the personified spirit (daimon) of grief and lamentation. Their opposite number were Hedone (Pleasure) and the Kharites (graces and Joys).
