Karis was the elder brother of Jacobus. While his father and brother were fisherman, Karis became a soldier. Later in life, Karis led a group of bandits who would rob and murder people. He became wealthy and was respected by his nephew, Deon. However, when he tried to get Deon to work with him, Hercules interfered. The hero showed Deon what Karis did was wrong. When Karis tried to kill Deon, Jacobus stabbed him to save his son.
Ironically Karis forced Jacobus to perform Fratricide (Killing of one's brother) on him to prevent him (Karis) from committing Nepoticide (Killing of one's nephew).
