Herodotus was the husband of Hecuba, father of Gabrielle and Lila, grandfather of Sarah and Hope, as well as a great-grandfather to The Destroyer.
He resided in Potedia.
He and Hecuba put Gabrielle and Perdicas into a planned marriage, but Gabrielle did not want to marry, and instead wanted to join up with Xena.[1]
When Gabrielle returned home, Herodotus was tricked into thinking that Hope was Gabrielle. He showed resentment to Xena, especially when Hope, under the guise of Gabrielle, made him think that Xena had beaten her up.[2]
During Gabrielle's 25-year hibernation, Herodotus was beheaded by Gurkhan, during his raid on Potedia.[3]
Herodotus is the name of one of the earliest historians, who is known for producing one of the first objective non-legendary histories ever written- in fact, it was he who created the very word "history."
