Hecuba was the mother of Gabrielle and Lila and the wife of Herodatus. She resided in Potedia.
She and Herodatus arranged for Gabrielle to marry Perdicus, but Gabrielle did not want to marry, and instead decided to travel with Xena.
When Gabrielle returned home after the showdown with Dahak's cult, Hecuba was tricked into thinking that Hope was Gabrielle. She showed resentment to Xena when the hero arrived to sort things out, but was appreciative of her efforts to save Potedia from the Destroyer.
During Xena and Gabrielle's 25-year hibernation, Hecuba was beheaded by Gurkhan during his raid on Potedia, in which her granddaughter Sarah was kidnapped and kept as a concubine. Hecuba's death was eventually avenged by Xena and Gabrielle.
- She was played by Linda Jones and Lisa Crittenden. In mythology, Hecuba was the queen of Troy, Priam's wife and the mother of Hector, Cassandra and Paris.
