Galatea is the woman that Hephaestus decides to build in his forge after being unlucky with women in Cyrano de Hercules. With a literal heart of gold, an iron will, and a one-track mind, she ends up falling in love with Hercules instead. She pursues him relentlessly, despite his obvious lack of interest and attempts to get her to notice Hephaestus. Later, when a jealous Hephaestus thinks that Hercules is trying to steal Galatea away from him, he puts a spell on her to make her hate him. Unfortunately, her hatred runs so deeply that she tries to kill Hercules (and his friends when they interfere). She's stopped only when the bridge collapses under the weight of her heavy metallic body and she plummets to the bottom of a ravine. Hephaestus laments that he never should have made her in the first place, but it still hurts that she's gone.

- In Greek mythology, Galatea was a statue created by the sculptor Pygmalion, who lived on Cyprus. When the man fell in love with his creation, Aphrodite took pity on him and brought the statue to life. Galatea's children founded the city of Paphos, the location of Aphrodite's paramount sanctuary.
