Career[]

Sam Raimi had always expressed interest in making movies. During his teenaged years, he would meet Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell, with whom he would collaborate on many projects and found Renaissance Pictures. Other notable people involved in his projects include his brothers (Ted and Ivan) and composer Joseph LoDuca.

After several preceding projects, Raimi would write and direct The Evil Dead, which starred Campbell and was produced by Tapert. Noted for its gore, violence and difficult production, the movie proved controversial and successful. Among the plaudits was praise for Raimi's directing style. The movie led to a string of other projects (including two more comedic sequels) – the most successful and mainstream of which thus far has been Sony's Spider-Man films.

Raimi served as executive producer for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules and Xena - The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus, Young Hercules, Jack of All Trades and Cleopatra 2525.

Raimi and Tapert would later form Ghost House Productions, which was intent on producing new horror movies. Among the productions was the American version of The Grudge, which featured Ted Raimi.

Raimi recently served as executive producer of the TV series, Legend of the Seeker, another action series filmed in New Zeland that would feature Xenaverse alumin in guest roles. He was at work preparing Spider-Man 4, but disagreements with the studio prompted him to leave the project. His next project is slated to be a movie based on the Warcraft video game series. He has also (and for a number of years at that) expressed occassional interest in doing a fourth Evil Dead movie. He has since admitted that he and his brother, Ivan, occassionally work on a possible script.
