Demetrius was a manipulative mercenary hired by Echidna to lure Hercules into a death trap. He faked a loving relationship with Alcmene and then kidnapped her, taking her to Echidna. Hercules followed and managed to defeat Demetrius and rescue his mother. During the battle in Echidna's cave, Demetrius was knocked unconscious by one of Echidna's tentacles. He was killed when Hercules sealed off the entrance to Echidna's cave (HTLJ "The Mother of All Monsters").
Later, Breanna told Hercules that Demetrius was a bandit who frequently wrought havoc in her village, Plinth. Demetrius's brother, Maceus, vowed vengeance on Hercules when he heard about Demetrius' death (HTLJ "Cast a Giant Shadow").
