Dagnine was a recurring character on Xena: Warrior Princess. He was Xena's right-hand man at the time of the Battle of Corinth and her search for the Ixion Stone.
His jealousy of Xena's ex-lover Borias led Dagnine to killing him, prompting Xena to give her newborn son Solan to Kaleipus of the Centaurs to raise. His greedy nature eventually got the better of him when he found the Ixion Stone and used it for himself, transforming him into a hideous and evil horned Centaur. Xena killed him shortly after his transformation.

Trivia[]
The name Dagnine, or its variant Dagne, is of Norse origin and means "new day". It combines the Old Norse words "dagr" (day) and "nýr" (new) to signify the dawn of a new day. It is often associated with hope, renewal, and illumination. While appearing in Norse mythology, it had virtually fallen out of use for centuries, and was revived at the second half of the 19th century. This is attributed either to a character of that name in Henrik Ibsen’s 1857 play "The Vikings of Helgeland" or more likely to the popularity of Dagny, a Scandinavian women's magazine founded in 1886. The name was at its most common in Scandinavia in the early to mid 20th century.
