Chimpules was a character idea that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci pitched to Rob Tapert. Chimpules would have starred in a Hercules: The Legendary Journeys spin-off series called Chimpules: The Legendary Monkey. Tapert and the rest of the production team thought the idea was utterly absurd.
