Athens is the capital city of Greece.
When Hercules was being prosecuted by Spencius the trial took place in Athens (HTLJ: "Hercules on Trial"). Ironically, in spite of being the center of Greek politics and culture, the greatest of Greek heroes- Hercules, Xena, Iolaus and Gabrielle- rarely visited.
The Persian Army began to advance on Athens, which prompted the Spartans to retaliate. Xena and Gabrielle helped slow down the Persian Army (XWP: "One Against an Army").
