Legendary Journeys

Anteus believed that his God had requested for him to sacrifice his youngest son, Ikus, as he seemed to favor Ikus over God. Although, it was later revealed that his eldest son, Mael, had drugged him, as well as that it was all a clever plot to kill Ikus and punish Anteus for favoring him over Mael.

Background[]

  • Anteus was played by David Ackroyd.
  • It is heavily implied that Anteus and Ikus were based on Abraham and Isaac, respectively, from the "Abraham and Isaac" story in the Bible.
  • The name Anteus has Greek origins and is closely related to Antaeus, a figure from Greek mythology. Antaeus was a giant and the son of Poseidon and Gaia, known for his incredible strength, which he gained from contact with the earth. He was ultimately defeated by Heracles, who lifted him off the ground, cutting off his source of power. The name Anteus is sometimes interpreted as meaning "enemy", though it carries mythological significance tied to resilience and strength. It is a rare name and has variations like Antaios and Anteo.
