"We uphold Amazon law but Varia leads our warriors! She is our queen! She brought us together and made us strong!"
Telaquire Queen Kanae to African Queen Mawu-ka[src]

Amazon Tribal Council was a political summit and government council made of all the tribal leaders and elders of the Amazon Nation. They were responsible for upholding and mantaining the Amazon law among their fellow members, and directing and discussing other national matters.

The leader of the royal council was known as the "Head".

Description[]

The queen elders of the royal council wore a certain silver oval necklace with a symbol on it, and the head of the council possessed and carried a certain royal scepter as a representative of their authority and power.

History[]

In response to Queen Varia's call for unity with the help of a recently re-deified Olympian war god Ares, various tribes of the scattered Amazon Nation that were spread across the known world were invited to a meeting with the other remnants of the Nation in a valley of the Amazons near or in Hyperus, Greece, the legendary alleged birthplace of all the Amazons, to discuss the further fates and reunion of all the Amazons in a single tribe under Varia as a newly appointed Amazon high queen and head of the royal council. Perhaps because of their isolation, the Amazons from Queen Yo-hono's tribe were selected and entrusted wih the duty of personally guarding the Queens' Council.

Later, Gabrielle of Poteidaia, the former rightful queen of the Telaquire tribe, joined the other queens during the Council's meeting after Eve, who was previously banished from ever returning to the tribe under the penance of death, was captured and given a trial for her past crimes against Varia's tribe during her dark days as Livia of Rome. She also challenged Varia to a royal duel by slicing her royal scepter in half in a failed attempt to prevent Eve's execution order, however, she ultimately lost the duel and Eve was eventually pardoned by Varia who realized that Eve and Livia were now completely different people and was forgiven, saving her from death and allowing her to move on and continue to spread the message of Eli. Soon after, on the following day, the queens Yo-hono, Exosspia, and Pilore and their respective tribes refused to merge their tribes with the other remnants of the re-unified Amazon Nation to create a single tribe, and returned to their own territories with their people.

Trivia[]

  • Despite Kanae being considered the new rightful queen of the Telaquire tribe following Xena and Gabrielle's presumed deaths during their twenty-five year-long deep slumber, a recently-reawekned Gabrielle was able to retain her royal status and join the royal council of the Amazons alongside her successor.
  • Although there existed twelve different tribes of the scattered Amazon Nation, there were only eleven that were present during Varia's call for unity, including Varia's tribe, the Northern, and Telaquire Amazon tribes. The identity of the Tanta queen was not, however, revealed.
